– Malnutrition
– Analytical error

The examination of the abdomen shows the stomach and the descending duodenum with contents with hyperechoic, irregular profiles and an intense posterior shadow cone and, therefore, the pancreas was not explorable.

For a better characterization of the gastro-duodenal finding, in addition, a direct examination was carried out which showed a moderately dilated stomach, in particular the region of the body and the antrum and with a liquid/material density isodense to the soft tissues.

fter the administration of the barium contrast medium (8/12 mL per kg bodyweight)
there was a large filling defect of the gastric lumen and duodenum, partially visualized by parallel contrast streaks.

The ultrasound and x-ray findings are compatible with the presence of a gastro-duodenal foreign body.
